Elden Ring is not the true co-op people were led to believe. A co-op to gamers is 2 players playing together. Multiplayer to gamers is three to four players or more. The word ‘co-op’ should’ve never been spoken at The Game Awards because Elden Ring comes with a weird and horrible catch: it’s either 1 player or 3 players. What??
There has never been a game before that would not allow two players to play. After all, two players is the traditional buddy system when it comes to gaming. What was going on at FromSoftware that made them decide to cut out 2-player mode?? It just doesn’t make sense.
FromSoftware has a tremendous history of trying to make things difficult for a gamer just because it can. Maybe this was another example of FromSoftware’s sadistic ways? Elden Ring became a monster seller despite the difficulty, and when products reach insane success, other corporate bigwigs follow suit.
What if other game studios follow this unwanted trend? Imagine Call of Duty only allowing a certain number of players. Co-op means two or more. Hopefully, omitting the chance for two players to play by themselves won’t happen again.
